When elected to the Office of Sheriff of Roane County, James L. "Jim" Crowder has a positive plan of action that he will initiate with the support of the citizens and other elected or appointed officials involved. Your vote and support will help make the points of his plan a reality.

OBTAIN FEDERAL GRANT MONEY for Law Enforcement activities ( such as DUI checks ) county wide.

Implement a SHERIFF'S AUXILIARY PROGRAM to utilize citizen involvement for duties such as traffic control as allowed by the West Virginia Code with approval of the County Commission.

Initiate an “EDUCATED STRAIGHT” program in the Roane County School System with input and guidance from the principals of the Roane County High School and middle schools to work with Alternative Learning Center (ALC) and Behavioral Problem students to prevent them from becoming “problem adults”.

With the cooperation and approval of all jurisdictions involved, initiate a MULTI-COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE with the adjacent rural counties to enhance cooperative Drug Enforcement investigations and prosecutions.

With approval of the Roane County Commission, Spencer Mayor, City Council and Chief of Police, DEPUTIZE THE SPENCER CITY POLICE OFFICERS so they will be available to travel outside the city limits of Spencer if needed to assist County Deputies and State Police . This would greatly ENHANCE THE NUMBER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS available for county emergency situations.

Hold MONTHLY "TOWN HALL" MEETINGS in various locations throughout Roane County to HEAR THE CONCERNS and NEEDS of each community as it relates to the Sheriff’s Department.

Develop and maintain a SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT WEBSITE for citizens to CONTACT THE SHERIFF DIRECTLY via email 24/7 to air concerns.  This site will also be used to keep the public updated on individuals wanted on criminal charges on old and new cases.

To manage the Sheriff's Department in a legal, responsible, efficient manner with an OPEN DOOR POLICY for the citizens of Roane County to voice their concerns directly to the Sheriff.
