James Crowder was former Sheriff Robey Knight's first Chief
Deputy. Under their direction, that office became the first fully
uniformed Sheriff's Department in Roane County. They also
acquired the first fully equipped Sheriff Patrol Car.

James
Crowder continued in civil
service to the state of West Virginia holding such positions as
Criminal Investigator, Chief Investigator, Director and in 2005
retired as
Senior Director of the Office of Inspector General's Investigations and
Fraud
Management Unit within the West
Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

James
Crowder has over
30 years of
experience conducting criminal, civil and administrative
investigations. He has conducted in-service training for
government employees on both the state and national level on topics
such as Investigative Report Writing, Computer Security and the WV
Computer Crime and Abuse Act, Electronic Surveillance, Physical
Surveillance,
Kinesic Interviewing Techniques, State and Federal Regulation
Compliance and more.

Since his retirement in 2005, James Crowder
became a
licensed Private Investigator and became owner and operator of
Crowder's Statewide Investigations located in Walton. Shortly
thereafter, he was elected President of the Private Investigators and
Security
Professionals of West Virginia, the oldest continuing organization
of its kind in the state.

James Crowder has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for 30
years, most recently serving as Scoutmaster/Asst Scoutmaster for BSA
Walton Troop 434. |
